Anup D. Patel, MD, FAAN, FAES, FCNS

Anup D. Patel, MD, FAAN, FAES, FCNS, is an associate chief quality officer in the Center for Clinical Excellence at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He is a professor in clinical pediatrics and neurology at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his child neurology training at Vanderbilt University. He completed a neurophysiology fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Ohio State College of Medicine. He is board certified in neurology with special qualifications in child neurology. In addition, he is board certified in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology. He is the chair of the AAN Quality Committee and previously served for six years as its vice chair. Other roles served were vice chair of the Quality Measures Subcommittee and member of the Practice Committee and Quality Safety Subcommittee.  He was the chair of Epilepsy Quality Measure Work Group and was instrumental in creating the first outcome measure in the history of the AAN. He is on the editorial board for Neurology® Clinical Practice. Patel has been active in other neurology-related professional societies, serving as the chair of the Practice Management Committee for the American Epilepsy Society. He has interests in child neurology, pediatric epilepsy, and quality improvement. Clinically, he sees patients with non-surgical treatment resistant epilepsy. Academically, he has over 100 peer-reviewed publications. He has given several national and international presentations. He has had federal funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).  He mentors several neurology and non-neurology faculty across the United States. He is considered a key leader in quality.
