Melissa Yu, MD, FAAN

Melissa Yu, MD, FAAN

Melissa Yu, MD, FAAN, is a professor of neurology at Baylor College of Medicine, director of clinical operations of the Baylor Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders Center, and associate medical director of the Department of Neurology. She is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed neurology residency at Baylor. Prior to joining Baylor faculty, she worked in a small private practice in New York. She holds graduate certificates in health care management from Rice University and health informatics from University of Texas. She is board certified in neurology and clinical informatics. 

Yu maintains a busy clinical practice and serves as principal investigator on multiple clinical trials. From 2016-2025, she also held the position of Baylor Medicine Physician Informaticist, where her duties included optimization of the electronic health record (EHR), staying up to date with governmental and insurance regulations, implementation of telehealth, and serving as chair of the Provider Engagement task force. 

Yu has served in multiple leadership roles at the AAN, including as vice chair and chair of the Practice Management and Technology Subcommittee, chair of the Neurology Compensation and Productivity Survey Work Group and co-chair of the Practice Experiential Learning Area Planning Group for the Annual Meeting. She has also served on the Potamkin Prize Selection Committee, as a subject matter expert in AAN meetings with CMS, and on multiple other task forces and work groups. She currently serves as chair of the Medical Economics and Practice Committee and as a member of the Brain Health Committee. She is a 2020 graduate of the Transforming Leaders Program.
