Sarah Jane Hon, DO, MBA, FAAN

Sarah Jane Hon, DO, MBA, FAAN, is the vice president of the Neuroscience Service Line at The University of Kansas Health System. She is a clinical professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she serves as a clinical neurologist. Board certified in neurology, epilepsy, and headache medicine, Hon continues to evaluate and treat patients in the clinic.

Prior to joining the faculty of KU full-time in 2022, she was the managing partner of a medical group in the Northland of Kansas City, where she practiced for 25 years. She has held a variety of leadership roles, both regionally and nationally.  She is currently the president of the Kansas City Medical Society as well as the Kansas City Clinical Neuroscience Society and serves as a director on the Missouri Kansas Neurological Society Board.

Consistent with her passion for teaching, Hon continues as chair of the division of Neurology, Department of Specialty Medicine at Kansas City University, where she has taught for more than 20 years. She has advised or mentored countless students, residents, and practicing physicians.

As a graduate of the AAN’s Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum as well as Women Leading in Neurology program, Hon continues to provide input to and review applications for the AAN’s Leadership Programs.  In 2024, she was honored to become a faculty member for the AAN’s Emerging Leaders Program. Hon is a member of the AAN Wellness Subcommittee and has chaired the Wellness Hub at the 2023-2025 Annual Meetings. She remains active in AAN advocacy efforts, meeting with legislators or their staff during Neurology on the Hill and off the Hill.  On a local level, she continues to lead the Kansas City Epilepsy Society, an organization she helped develop in 2017 to improve epilepsy care in the region.

A native of Kansas City, Hon is married with two adult children and a grandson. In addition to traveling and spending time with her family, she enjoys singing classical music and has performed in the Kansas City Symphony Chorus and Musica Vocale.
