Participants should gain an understanding of the education theoretical basis for a competency-based summative assessment system in clinical rotation performance; the practical implications of the conversion of standardized testing results like USMLE Step 1 to a pass-no pass assessment scoring system from a norm-referenced report; and the positive and negative impacts of conversion of UME Neurology Clerkship final assessments from a norm-referenced tiered-grading system to competency-based systems (Pass-No Pass and Criterion-based assessment).
