Participants should be able to identify and describe the key clinical features and symptoms associated with various forms of spinocerebellar and spastic ataxias; learn to apply appropriate diagnostic techniques, including genetic testing and neuroimaging, to differentiate between types of ataxias; gain insights into current management strategies and therapeutic approaches for patients with spinocerebellar and spastic ataxias, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions; understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the management of ataxia patients, emphasizing a patient-centered care model; review recent advancements in research related to spinocerebellar and spastic ataxias, including experimental therapies and potential clinical trials; discuss effective communication strategies for counseling patients and families, including discussing prognosis and expectations in the context of progressive ataxias; and analyze case studies to highlight best practices in diagnosing and managing complex cases of ataxia.
