This session provides a foundational understanding of informatics for those seeking to engage in discussions and decision-making processes. Participants should learn key informatics concepts and terminology, enabling them to contribute effectively to technology-related conversations and decisions in their organizations. As health care transitions into the digital age, clinical informatics has become essential in managing the complexities of modern health care delivery. The shift to electronic health records (EHRs) has transformed how patient data is captured, shared, and utilized, with tools like data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning now critical for improving diagnosis, treatment, and care quality. In neurology, informatics supports precise diagnostics, care coordination, and population health management, empowering neurologists to lead advancements in neuroimaging, genetic testing, and chronic disease monitoring. This session will also provide an overview of career pathways in clinical informatics for neurology professionals, emphasizing the role of informatics in the digital transformation of health care. Additionally, presenters will cover essential skills, competencies, and certifications needed to excel in informatics, highlighting the diverse career opportunities in health systems, research, and quality improvement. Interactive elements will help demystify informatics and make its principles accessible and actionable.
